QUESTION:

WHAT DO I DO NOW THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN INSPECTED?

ALL THE PAPERWORK YOU GIVE US IN THE OFFICE WILL BE GIVEN TO THE INSPECTORS. We only keep a copy of your driver’s license in our office. If you need copies of any or your paperwork, we will be happy to make them for a charge of .50 cents per copy.

After your vehicle comes off the lift in the shop for inspection, it will be parked back out front in the very front corner under the bill boards. You are free to go, keys will be left in the ignition. YOU WILL ALSO FIND A SINGLE SHEE OF PINK PAPER CALLED “MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION REPORT”. Towards the bottom left side, you will see a box checked SALCAGE REPAIRED OR REBUILT TITLE or REJECTED.

If the SALVAGE REPAIRED OR REBUILT TITLE box is checked, you passed inspection. Approximately seven (7) – (10) state working days from inspection you can go down to your tag office and purchase your tag. Remember, another inspector in Atlanta inspects all paperwork before the information is loaded into the computer system. That inspector may or may not need additional information from you. This is a good reason to keep copies of everything you give us to have your car inspected. If you receive a letter from the Department of Motor Vehicles Services, be sure to get the information they are requesting and send it back in with the provided envelope as soon as possible. This will hold your title and tag process in a holding file until information is provided. If you have any questions please forward then to YOUR COUNTY TAG OFFICE or to the DMVS 404-362-6500. The state does not give us a direct line or any other number to call in with.

Your tag office does have access to most any information on their computer that is linked to Atlanta. THE INSPECTION STATIONS DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THIS INFORMATION!

IF THE REJECTED BOX IS CHECKED, you did not pass inspection. At the bottom in the open area, you will see a hand written explanation of what needs to be repaired. THE PINK SHEET OF PAPER MUST BE BROUGHT BACK WITH THE VEHICLE TO BE REINSPECTED. After July 1, 2004, reinspects will be charged fees by the state and inspection stations. Reinspection fee is $100.00 to GA Department of Revenues and $60.00 to R&D Auto.

We are not notifies which cars pass and which are rejected. If you have any questions once your car is inspected, we will be happy to try and answer any questions you may have to help you determine if you passed or not.
